Elaine Grant has breezed onto the romantic scene with her heart warming story, MAKE-BELIEVE MOM.

Rancher Jon Rider has seen better days, alone since his wife’s death last year, with seven children to raise, a ranch to run and in-laws that are trying to split his family apart, he is trying to keep it together. Another house keeper in a long line of house keepers just quit, one of his heifers is having trouble giving birth to a too large calf and a social worker just showed up. Then a ray of sunshine enters his life in the form of Dr. Kaycee Calloway, the new veterinarian. Kaycee jumps in to help with the birthing of the calf and then when the social worker threatens to take the children away, she pretends to be his fiancée. This gives Jon a chance to breathe and get his life back in order. It is soon evident that Jon wants this temporary engagement to become permanent but both he and Kaycee have many problems ahead.

Dr. Kaycee Calloway was left at the alter when her fiancée decides to marry her millionaire boss’s daughter. Hurt and determined to never trust men again, Kaycee leaves South Carolina and buys a large animal veterinarian practice in Montana. How she allowed herself to be caught up with Jon Rider and his seven precocious children she doesn’t know but she falls in love with all of them. Kaycee is not ready for commitment however, her career must come first and besides, she was never meant to be a stay at home wife and mother.

MAKE-BELIEVE MOM by talented Elaine Grant is a delightfully entertaining novel with laugh-out-loud moments as well as tear-wiping sighs. Ms. Grant’s research is evident on the timely topic of child welfare, covered in her sensitively written book. The characters, Jon Rider, Kaycee Calloway and all the children in this tale are very human and so believable that I wanted to join right in the fun and help with the emergencies. For a feel good story and a cowboy to boot, you won’t go wrong with MAKE-BELIEVE MOM by Elaine Grant.
